Every Friday I will be sharing with you guys my favourite things from that week: articles, music, videos, books, food, makeup - pretty much anything goes! And as I mentioned before, I am also very willing to admit I "stole" this idea from the wonderful Gala Darling and her "Things I Love Thursday."
Here are the things I’m loving this week…
#1: VOH-Africa #BringingHope Photo Project
Those of you who follow me on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook are likely well aware of this project by now – but I just can’t get enough of these kids! I was in Zambia this past summer (grew up there, BTW) and I was able to take the initial pictures for this ongoing project. This past week we had the big “launch” (check out my blog on it here) and I got to sort through all of the pictures I took while over there (I know, I have the best job ever!) and I went crazy over how amazing (and adorable) these kids are!
Here’s are a couple of my faves…
#2 I am loving these articles…
- “Three things I wish I knew Before We Got Married” (via relevant magazine)
- “The Ugly Side of Tanning” (via BeautyRedefined) – as a former “fake n’ baker” I definitely appreciate this!
- “An Open Apology to all of my Weight Loss Clients” (via HuffPost) << This was A-MAZING.

#4 The Body Shop Skincare & Makeup
I have struggled with my skin for the longest time, and I am so excited that my skin is FINALLY fixed. Thanks to suggestions from my dear friend @laurenwoods I am officially The Body Shop’s biggest fan! Not only do their products work, check out their company values:
- Against Animal Testing
- Community Fair Trade
- Activate Self Esteem
- Defend Human Rights
- Protect Our Planet
- Ethical Trade
Yep – I’m sold! In case you’re wondering, I use their Seaweed skincare line (and Tea Tree Oil day moisturizer) and then use their All-in-One BB cream as a primer and LOVE their powder and bronzer! Check out this photo (right) for evidence (no filter!). My new foundation love is MAC Studio Fix Fluid btw.
#5 This TED Talk by Brené Brown
I love Brené Brown – if you haven’t read her book “The Gifts of Imperfection” – DO! She is amazing. She has another TED Talk, too, and it is great. This one is called “Listening to Shame” < watch!
#6 This article is hilarious: The 16 Most Annoying “Fitspiration” Pins On Pinterest.
And lastly, I wrote this.
Typically I wouldn’t share my own posts as a “favourite” – but this one was really personal, and really hard to write, and I would appreciate you checking it out.
Here’s an excerpt:
So whatever is holding you back – be it memories, words, people, tweets – don’t let it. Don’t close up, don’t shy away, don’t let excuses justify recoiling into your safe place. Don’t be bullied into silence. You are YOU. And you have things to say. And no one, NO ONE, can take that away from you; no one inherently holds that power. So don’t freely give it to them.
