Friday’s Favourites: Obama Bringin’ SexyBack

Every Friday I share some of my favourite things from that week: articles, music, videos, books, food, makeup - pretty much anything goes...

First a recap from the past week[s]…

Now on to my favourites…

 #1: New government, fresh hope

As you may know, we have a new government here in Canada (*woot woot*) and I am thrilled for many reasons. This excerpt from one of Justin Trudeau’s recent open letters is one of them…

Canada is facing a growing mental health crisis; during their lifetimes, one in five Canadians will experience a mental health issue. It is crucial that we foster a welcoming environment for free and frank discussion, and the federal government has a vital leadership role to play in improving mental health support for Canadians.

#2: Baracksdubs

How did I not know about this YouTube Channel sooner?? I am dying over this one in particular:

#3: Mindy Kaling

#4: Less!

I recently watched the documentary “The True Cost” and it has me reevaluating my life and my orientation to “stuff” (fashion, especially). This article was a great read on the problem of excess, and the solution of less:

Are you wondering where to begin? Don’t. You know exactly where this journey starts. It starts with the stuff that makes you feel guilty, stressed or overwhelmed when you look at it. The clothing with price tags still on them, the toys no one plays with, the boxes and boxes of stuff you’re storing in your attic, basement and garage, just in case. Get rid of it; recycle it, donate it, sell it on Craigslist. And when you’re done getting rid of it, stop buying more.

Because when it comes to stuff, I promise you, you don’t need more labels or better systems or complicated Pinterest tutorials – all you need is less.

#5: @SocalityBarbie

There are hardly words to express how I feel about this “basic” babe….

Article roundup:

  • The 3-Letter Word that Cuts Women Down Everyday“: “I have determined that too means you’re calling a woman too far away from your idyllic vision of what a woman should be.”
  • Alexa’s Story“My mentality was what needed to change. I needed to find freedom; to find meaning in this world, and travel gave me just that.”

Bonus:

They may be an easy target for cruel jokes; but don’t judge until you’ve tried: fur-lined Crocs as slippers. Hey, arch support really does matter!
