Friday’s Favourites: More of an update, really

Every Friday I will be sharing with you guys my favourite things from that week: articles, music, videos, books, food, makeup - pretty much anything goes! And as I mentioned before, I am also very willing to admit I "stole" this idea from the wonderful Gala Darling and her "Things I Love Thursday."

First an update…

Hello, friends! So I just checked my calendar, and it’s been two months since the last time I posted on this blog. This is something I certainly am not proud of. A lot has been going on – most good, some not-so-good – and it’s kept me from writing, which is a tragedy, because as you know, I love writing. Unfortunately, sometimes life gets in the way of us doing the things we love, and sometimes we get in the way of ourselves (re: this post). But that is all in the past and now it’s time to move forward. Before I get into this week’s Friday’s Favourites, I’m going to let you know about some stuff that’s been going on in my life!

If you’re thinking “why should I care what she’s been up to?” then by all means, close this window and get back to whatever it was you were doing.

But for those of you who are interested, here it goes…

I got the speak at an MK (missionary kids) retreat in Toronto last month…

It was such an honour to have the opportunity to share my story with a group of MKs like myself and spend a great weekend hanging out, talking, and riding horses (!). I got to meet a lot of really awesome people and it was such an amazing experience! (for those of you who don’t know, public speaking is probably one of my favourite things – even more than writing).

Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend:

I also got to meet up with a good friend and stayed with my brother and sister-in-law for a few nights  and spend some quality time with their dog, Oliver (aren’t we cute!)

Also, I got to meet an amazing member of the Libero Network community, who came up to me at Starbucks (she’d seen that I was in town and recognized me by my purple hair!) So that was pretty cool! The odds are if I’m in town, Starbucks is always a good place to find me!

I moved into my own place…

I have finally moved into my own place – like a real grown-up! I found a beautiful coach house. It’s the perfect size and all my stuff fit in perfectly (even my punching bag!)

As always, moving is busy and stressful, but it was also an exciting process. I am all settled in now (except my bed – which doesn’t arrive until the 20th) and it’s really starting to feel like home.

I got accepted into makeup school!

Surprise! This is something I’ve been planning for the past six months or so, but didn’t want to say much about it until it was all finalized. Anyways, I got the acceptance letter in the mail this past week and I will start in January! It is a course for receiving your makeup artist certificate and it is about ten weeks long. I am really excited about it!

For those of you who don’t know, makeup is a pretty big hobby for me, and it is one of my main creative outlets. I also do the occasional makeup video/review on my personal youtube channel  and my Instagram is full of makeup pics! I’ve also written on makeup on this blog, and if you’d like me to do any more makeup-related posts or videos, let me know in the comments section!

and lastly (but most excitingly)…

I got a puppy!

Meet Zoey! She is my new goldendoodle (golden retriever – poodle) puppy and she is 11 weeks old! She is a little furry bundle of fun and she brings so much joy into my life – expect lots of pictures in the months (and years) to come!

Zoey also made her YouTube debut in my vlog last night – check it out…
and now…

Here are a few things I’m loving this week…

I cannot stop listening to (and watching) this song performed on The Voice by Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World  (and, as always, I can’t stop looking at Christina’s makup!)

This is hilarious: 27 Perfect Ways to Respond to Wrong Number Texts and this (some of them are repeated).

And I’m loving Dido again! Remember Thank YouSo good… Her albums “No Angel” and “Life for Rent” are my go-to working at Starbucks music.

Thanks for reading!
