I’m back, I can swallow, and I’m ready for 2016

I can’t believe March is here already. It seems like I was just writing my “27 Things I Learned” and now here I am, post-Zambia, post-Christmas, post-Surgery. It’s amazing how time passes.

My cousin told me time actually does pass quicker as you get older because your heart beats faster and faster every year. Isn’t that the most terrifying thing you’ve ever heard? It is for me.

I am so grateful to once again be able to swallow. I will never take it for granted again. I will write a separate piece on my health as it all still seems too big and too close to talk about. In short, surgery went well and I think I am OK now.

I believe 2016 is going to be a good year. Not only because of Justin Trudeau and the fact I can swallow sushi, but also because I plan to make it a good year. This year I am focusing on two things:

  • Changing the things I can and
  • Changing my attitude about the things I can’t

I am devoting a lot of time this year to personal growth and development.

I am excited to be taking a few online courses (Gala Darlings “Radical Self-Love Bootcamp” for starters). I also plan to spend more time researching, reading, and learning from those who have walked the path before me.

I also will have a new home soon. Well, not a physical home, but internet home. Yes, my site is finally going to get that update I’ve been talking about for months (years?) and I am so excited!

I plan to read one book each month and review these as I go.

My reading list is quite extensive and mostly made up of books I paid a premium price for when they came out…2 years go. I have since learned never to buy new books because, by the time I get around to reading them, they are old and cheaper. Learn from my mistakes.

I also plan to reignite Documentary club!

However, I’ve discovered getting people to show up in person to things these days is difficult. So my Doc club will likely be just me and you guys, meeting here on my blog. Would a virtual club work? Now there’s a thought…

I think the thing I’m most excited about is my return to YouTube!

For those who follow me on Instagram, you will see I recently bought a tripod and phone adaptor thingy and I’m all “teched up” and ready to go! Not only will I be doing makeup videos on the regular (yay!) I will also be returning to Libero Network TV and talking about mental health, body image, and how to thrive.

You can subscribe to my channel here and Libero Network here

I also will be taking up some contracts for social media and web design. Nothing major, just something to keep my name out there and help pay the lipstick bills.

Lastly, my Intuitive Eating blog is getting republished on Libero Network each week.

As some of you know, I’ve been blogging over at Honouring Appetite for several years now. I eventually will merge this blog here on my [new] site when it’s done. In the meantime, I am republishing all my old posts (starting from the beginning) onto Libero Network’s Body Positive column. So head over to liberonetwork.com every Monday to catch the posts you may have missed.

Here’s to the year ahead!

  1. I am so glad you’re able to swallow!
Love the idea of a documentary club, but totally empathize with not being able to get people to show up to things.
Can’t wait to see your new site! Sounds like 2016 is an exciting year for you!

  2. I’ve never thought about how important the ability to swallow is. I’m glad to hear you’re recovering well from your surgery. Yay for sushi!
